AB4Rail participants presented preliminary results of the project to X2Rail partners. Anna Maria Vegni (Radiolabs) showed candidates for alternative communication bearers that can be considered in rail applications in terms of Wireless Optics (Visible Light Communications, Free Space Optics), Power Line Communications, Internet of Things (IoT) both for Short Range (i.e., Bluetooth Low Energy, Zigbee, UWB) and Long Range (i.e., Low Power Wide Area Network), High Altitude Platform System (HAPS), Novel Sat LEO constellations and Future technologies (Quantum communications and THz communications). Romeo Giuliano (Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi) provided a comparison among the most popular transport protocols (e.g., TCP and their subsequent versions, UDP, QUIC, SCTP) as well as potentials of application protocols HTTP, FTP and their secure versions HTTPS and FTPS.
[deliverable D3.1 Review of ACS, of existing transport protocols, application protocols, railway applications, 28th Feb. 21]
Franco Mazzenga (Radiolabs) presented a preliminary analysis of connection establishment in interworking IPv4/IPv6 networks and issues and solutions for the Session Interconnection Protocol (SIP).
